An old statement from Pakistan’s opening batter, Imam-ul-Haq, has gone viral following the team’s disappointing performance in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Imam was recalled to the squad, replacing Fakhar Zaman, just before the high-stakes match against India on February 23 in Dubai. However, he failed to make an impact, scoring only 10 runs off 26 balls before being run out.
After Pakistan's elimination from the tournament, a past video of Imam discussing leadership within the team resurfaced. In the clip, recorded months earlier, the host asked him about the team’s leadership situation. Imam responded with laughter, saying that there was no clear leader as everyone was busy arguing.
“Who should I name as a leader? Everyone is fighting among themselves,” he said in the video.
He later mentioned that Mohammad Rizwan took charge of organizing team activities. “For now, I’d say Rizzi (Rizwan). He arranges hotel rooms, gathers everyone for prayers, and even creates WhatsApp groups for prayer schedules,” Imam added.
Pakistan’s performance in the tournament was underwhelming. Despite winning series against Australia and South Africa, they struggled in key moments. The team lost group-stage matches against New Zealand and India, ultimately exiting the tournament without a single win. Their final group match against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain in Rawalpindi.
