The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed rumours about Fakhar Zaman's retirement plans following an injury during the Champions Trophy 2025. According to reports from ARY News, sources revealed that the 36-year-old opening batter, who has played 86 One Day Internationals for Pakistan, had reportedly discussed his retirement with close associates in recent weeks.
However, the PCB has called these reports "false and unfounded," stating that Fakhar's injury is not serious and he is expected to recover soon. The board also mentioned that an official statement on his rehabilitation would be issued shortly.
Fakhar Zaman suffered the injury while fielding in the first over of Pakistan's match against New Zealand in Karachi on February 19. The incident occurred when he fell awkwardly, resulting in a muscular sprain. Despite not being fully fit, Fakhar batted at number four but could only manage 24 runs from 41 balls before being dismissed by Michael Bracewell.
